SWIFAO works with various sectors that rages form relief to development based on its traditional programming in all its projects and activities are integrated for the purpose of effectiveness and for better outcome.
SWIFAO will greatly contribute in to helping Somalis in realizing improved access to reproductive health services, awareness raising, and skills for Somali youth, Women and Girls through enhanced protection qualities. SWIFAO will extensively work reproductive health-care service in delivery processes throughout Somalia. SWIFAO will be partnering with all line Ministries and specially the Ministry of Women and Human Rights Developments and other actors to continue to deliver essential life-saving Reproductive health and Gender-based violence responses to the people of Somalia and in particular the displaced population living in Somalia
SWIFAO will lead accurate assessing needs on the ground, resources mobilization, ensure timely delivery of aid to affected populations and accurately account for the aid dispersed to all the stakeholders involved. SWIFAO intervention programs include: Food aid, Nutrition, Health, Protection and WASH.
SWIFAO intervention also involves restoration of crucial infrastructure through reconstruction of water wells, schools and key sources of community livelihoods such irrigation canals, common market places and road networks. We also go to the greatest length possible to rehabilitate the society through protection, education (formal, adult and peace education, civic education) and vocational skills training programs, targeting the youth from (ex-combatant and reformed Al shabaab), women and other special interest groups such as people with disabilities, vulnerable/marginalized groups in IDP camps.
SWIFAO recovery initiative aims to increasing community resilience against the recurrent food insecurity, droughts, floods and other related humanitarian crisis through the restoration of key sources of livelihood. SWIFAO will create employment opportunities through food for work, food for assets that are aimed at encourage and support sustainable supply of food and income generation. These include farming crops and livestock development on small-scale business activities.
SWIFAO Peace building initiatives is a response to the continued armed conflicts that will see in many parts of Somalia Regions. SWIFAO activities will anchor on building peace for better Somalia through Conflict resolution and peace building work to promote understanding, better relationship among the communities and attitude change for working together in peace and development in the society and creating good atmosphere of stability in Somalia by Inclusion of women, youth and minority clans/groups in engagement of politics, in conflict resolution and peace building. SWIFAO also engage in intermediating between societal interest groups and the state by establishing various relations (communication, public opinion formation, negotiation) to bring lasting peace in conflict affected locations in Somalia. In peace building context, mediation/facilitation can take place not only between the state and citizens, but also between different conflicting groups, within groups and on different levels of society.
SWIFAO works toward initiations/discussions for durable solution for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and urban poor through increased investment in human resources and capital development as well as preparation for their resettlement programs. SWIFAO is also very involved in conflict resolution and peace building through sustainable development.
SWIFAO also actively will engage in crosscutting issues such as gender mainstreaming, women empowerment, environmental protection, HIV/AIDS and Human rights.
